The Third Annual Economics
Student-Alumni Dinner was a huge success. The alumni, some their first time
back on Siena campus since graduation shared their stories and experiences with
current students. Mr. Tom Andriola class of ’93 was this year’s guest speaker
and spoke about the value of networking and how it has helped him with his
career. Mr. Andriola was inspired by David Lettermen and gave a top ten reason
why to network. He mentioned always be networking because you never know who
can help you further your career, you also never know who can hurt your career.
His number one reason to network was because it is fun to go out and talk to
people. Mr. Andriola was not the only alumni not speak about the value of
networking. After dinner each alum stood up and gave one piece of advise to
current students. My personal favorite was from Mike Utzig, as he told students
to never pass up a drink. All of the alumni gave great advice and students
gained valuable tidbits of information to take with them when they eventual
leave Siena.
Also during the dinner the Omicron
Delta Epsilon award ceremony took place. The new inductees were mentioned and
given their gold sash that they wear during graduation. Congratulations to all
those students that achieved this great honor. If you were unable to attend the
dinner don’t worry you still have the opportunity to network with alumni. The
economics department is now the only club to have its own subgroup in the Siena
Alumni LinkedIn page. Take advantage of this great opportunity to connect with
alumni.
A special thanks must be given to Dr. Ashley Provencher for
coordinating this wonderful event. Without her efforts this could have never happened.
Thank you Dr. Provencher.
